In 2016, Rich co-wrote a sitcom pilot, Whipped, with David Ralf, which was filmed at Three Mills Studios. That year, it was featured in The Guardian in an article detailing the best pilots that should be picked up for TV.
During the writing process, the script got to Anil Gupta, producer of The Office and Goodness Gracious Me, who gave very positive feedback, which informed the shows direction.
